Crab Boil Stirs Up Support

The first rays of summer, a scenic view, and delicious food brought Big Brothers Big Sisters supporters together Sat., July 23rd. What was the occasion? None other than a good, Old Fashioned Crab Boil!

Over thirty people attended the event which was one of the many unique packages auctioned at December’s 2010 North Whidbey Festival of Trees, the leading fundraiser for BBBS.
BBBS staff and Board members arrived early at Kathi Phillip’s and Sheriff Mark Brown’s home, the Sound-side site of the festivities, where many hours of culinary preparation and setup ensued.
Guests arrived to find a spread of crab, shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes on the backyard tables – all cooked and seasoned in one steamy pot. In addition to the crab feast, an assortment of appetizers, a trio of gourmet cupcakes, and cold beer was enjoyed by all while listening to the tunes of DJ Charlie Moore.

“This was such a unique meal, everything was fabulous and we will definitely be purchasing it again if it is offered at the next Festival of Trees auction” said one of the happy feasters, Lyn Bankowski!

To bid on next year’s Old Fashioned Crab Boil, attend this year’s 13th Annual Festival of Trees Gala & Auction in Oak Harbor, Fri., Dec. 2nd, 2011. For more information on the black tie Auction & Gala, visit HERE.
